CURRENT AFFILIATIONS

 

Director of Research, Bricklin Associates, 1978-Present.  Directed the research team in conducting an extensive review of the literature in the areas of child development, family processes and child custody issues, to develop the Bricklin concept of child custody evaluation into a set of child custody evaluation tools.  This was the first of many research-based projects to measure the actual impact parents have on their children.

 

Vice Chair, Professional Academy of Custody Evaluators, 1992-Present.  Have oversight responsibility in this national organization whose goals are to strengthen the quality of the professionally prepared custody evaluation, to disseminate information to court systems, mediators, law firms, etc. concerning the training and experience of custody evaluators, to promote sound ethical standards for conducting and presenting custody evaluations, to provide advocacy at university and political levels, to provide continuing education courses, to augment networking venues among members, to provide local and national conferences and conventions.

Independent Forensic Practice, 1990 - Present.  Nationally recognized expert in child custody issues and evaluations.  Have been qualified in courts in many states as an expert witness who has attained the required clinical competencies specified for child custody evaluators by the American Psychological Association, by experts who have authored texts on child custody, and by senior members of a national organization of custody evaluators.  These areas of competency include child and family development, life-span development, adult psychopathology, child psychopathology, adult psychotherapy, child psychotherapy, psychological assessments of adults, children, and families, effective parenting, developmental disabilities, and educational issues.

 


Independent Practice, 1980-Present.  Diagnose and treat children and adults for numerous psychological conditions including anxiety, depression, marital problems, estrangement of family members in divorce (reunification therapy), psychosomatic disorders, developmental disorders (including impairment of cognitive and memory functioning in older adults), information processing deficits, learning disabilities, underachievement, school adjustment and behavior problems.  Consult with many public and private schools (in eleven school districts in the Philadelphia metropolitan area and Wilmington, DE) to coordinate ongoing, multidisciplinary treatment of private practice patients.  Devised an information-processing-oriented educational therapy technique and taught reading and content area subjects at all grade levels, preschool through graduate school, employing this technique.  Developed a comprehensive college entrance service for children with serious motivational problems and low self-esteem.

 

VERICARE, December, 2008 - Present.  Provide clinical psychological services and consultations to residents of long-term care facilities.
